Mince pies, mistletoe, decorations? Fleur Hitchcock knows that Christmas is really about a good murder…

Grace is delighted to be back with her mum and brother after a dismal time at boarding school, and looking forward to their stay in the posh suite at Aunt Mollie's hotel. But calamity strikes as one of the hotel staff is murdered – and soon after that, Mum goes missing!

Now it's up to Grace to look after her little brother and try to find her mum, but she doesn't know who to trust. Is someone at the hotel involved? Why is Aunt Mollie acting so strange? Or is it something to do with Mum's job in the Foreign Office? As Grace and her friends follow the clues, the tension mounts, before the truth finally comes out…

Fleur Hitchcock has a real knack with murder for kids (so to speak!). The opening chapters set the scene in classic style – the setting, the suspects, the tiny clues – while also giving us glimpses of Grace's character and worries. And when things kick off, the investigation is cleverly done and just on the right side of plausible to make it fun. Great for anyone looking for a mystery, plucky kids, or just the thought of having free rein in a hotel at Christmas…

Fleur Hitchcock's books are becoming a Christmas tradition – bring on the mistletoe and murder!
