I'm a Scottish Book Trust Reading Schools Ambassador!
I am delighted and excited to be joining the Scottish Book Trust as a Reading Schools Ambassador!
I'll be following in the footsteps of some brilliant former ambassadors such as Vivian French, Brian Conaghan, Abi Elphinstone and many others, and this year I'm joining the wonderful Nadine Aisha Jassat, author of verse books for children and teenagers.
The Reading Schools project is a brilliant initiative, supporting schools across Scotland as they encourage children to read and enjoy reading. From their site:
Research proves that reading for pleasure supports equity and wellbeing, impacts learners' attainment, and encourages critical thinking, creativity, empathy and resilience.
Through Reading Schools, you can access practical resources and friendly support to help build your reading culture and connect with hundreds of schools across Scotland who have already seen transformational changes to their settings, staff and learners.
I'm looking forward to visiting schools, helping to share my love of reading, stories and storytelling, and hearing more from pupils on their reading journeys.
